Meet Gus

GUS IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

He's cute. He's soft. He snores. Meet Gus!!

This adorable boy is 6 months old and has shown tremendous heart in a desire for a great life. After suffering mistreatment as a small puppy he came to the Idaho rescue family. Gus had pneumonia due to food aspiration. This issue was caused by teeth that were causing ulcers in his mouth, which in turn prevented him from chewing and swallowing properly. After surgery to correct this, he is now happily eating his meals with no issues. He will at some point need his hip dysplasia addressed. But this does not hold him back from enjoying his foster life!

Gus is now happily sharing his life with foster sister, Hazel, a near mirror image of him. They get along very well. Gus enjoys trying to keep up with her playing tug and tumbling in the yard. He's a quick learner and knows that his kennel is a safe place to catch his breath after a rambunctious tussle. He's a pro at fetch and loves pouncing on his tennis ball and coming right back to you for another throw and pat on the head. Gus is quite comfortable sleeping and snoring all night stretched out in his kennel. He's able to wait till morning to go potty. Then he's all about the food! And that's when his snorting gets going (yes, like a little piglet). He does enjoy his meals! His days are spent alternating between playing snuggling and napping. It's hard to choose, but I would say his favorite is snuggling. Gus is all about being with his person and following them everywhere, all the while hoping for his person to take a moment to love on him. He lives for pets, snuggles, and kisses.
Because of hip dysplasia, we are currently limiting his energy and function, but he's a wonderfully easy puppy as far as puppies go. He's not afraid to play with his bigger sis Hazel and hold his own. But he does need a break every so often. He needs the door opened to go outside as he can't maneuver the doggie door yet. He's not a jumper, so climbing stairs and getting in the car also require assistance.
If you're in need of a new shadow and a life full of snuggles, Gus is your boy!
A big thank you to Foster Mom Ann for the great write up on Gus.
