Gunther T is enjoying life in his foster home. He has a calm presence and just wants to be close to his humans while they all relax. He gets very excited for his short daily walk around the block. He ignores all the dogs that bark at him on his walks, as he is far more interested in exploring all the good smells with his nose as he leisurely walks along. He enjoys the companionship of his two K-9 foster siblings, getting very excited for food and treats.

Gunther is very polite with new people, greeting them with a wagging tail and friendly excitement. Gunther does well in the car and quietly looks forward to arriving at every new destination. His soulful eyes look deeply at anyone who gives him attention, politely but imploringly searching for a companion he can share his life with. Gunther is patiently waiting to find his forever home.

Gunther came from a Southern CA shelter as a stray. With lots of TLC (Thulani loving care), his coat is shining and he is ready to show it off at his forever home. Gunther is a stunning, classic German Shepherd who easily garners a stranger's attention because of his beauty. He is gentle and well mannered. He politely greets people, warming up even more when he gets attention. Gunther's calm demeanor shows through when he greets other large dogs as well. He loves going for walks, only occasionally pulling. He does well on short car trips, but vocalizes his disappointment when the ride drags on too long. Overall, he is a calm companion, and just wants to be close to his humans. Gunther is an incredible dog, patiently awaiting his new family with whom to spend the rest of his life.

Gunther passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR. The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home. The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail). This dog remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.
