Introducing the AMAZING Gunther! Sure, every rescue says their adoptable dogs are amazing (and they're not wrong!), but let us tell you why Gunther is even more so!

Gunther was originally surrendered to Long Beach Animal Care services when he was 10 months old - and in deep trouble. He was attacked, repeatedly, by another dog in his home. Brutally attacked. His head was opened, and his ears were hanging off. It was one of the worst attacks we've seen. Gunther needed immediate and significant medical care. Fast forward a few months, and we are ready to help Gunther take his next step: a forever home.

Despite having an atrocious start at life, Gunther has proven to be a most resilient soul. His history has not prevented him from loving other dogs. He has been great with dogs of all sizes! He hasn't been officially cat tested, but we believe he could also live in a home with a feline family member. He is a gentle giant who LOVES to be with his people. He's also well mannered. He is good on leash and checks in, making great eye contact. He is house trained, and he is just fabulous at the vet. He's unsure how he feels about getting into and out of a car, but he rides well in one. The car is still a work in progress, but he recently started getting out on his own, so we're sure he will master the getting in part soon enough. In the meantime, he doesn't mind being lifted.

Gunther enjoys playing with toys, splashing in a kiddie pool, battling the hose, and playing chase. Oh, and did we mention he LOVES people. Like, a lot.

When you first meet Gunther, it can be a little heartbreaking when you realize he only has one ear.  But then you see his remaining ear has enough personality to make up for the missing one!

Gunther is really an all-around gem. We have not yet found a negative trait. He's simply perfection.
