Gunther - URGENT - LOSING HOME! Foster or Adopter Needed ASAP! American Staffordshire Terrier & Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Mix Poughkeepsie, NY

Gunther is a 1.5 y/o, 55 lb. sweet, active boy who literally crawled his way to safety when he and 2 siblings escaped from a breeding/fighting ring in SC when they were just 3 mos old. Sadly, only he and his brother made it to safety - the female passed away from her injuries in the grass after they escaped. :,-(

When we got the call from a good Samaritan who found them, we immediately took them to the vet to treat their wounds, have them vaccinated, and neutered.

Then, both of them went to a foster home where the brother was adopted, but sadly Gunther has been patiently waiting there with 6 other dogs and a single foster mom who works two jobs!!

*** NOW, it’s URGENT that the foster dogs move because a pipe burst in the home causing significant damage and needing to be gutted so now the house MUST BE VACATED ASAP making this VERY URGENT NOW!!! ***

After all he’s been through in his short life, it will be traumatizing and devastating for him to end up in boarding (and which to them is no different than a scary shelter and has the same detrimental effect on them). But, if a foster or adopter doesn’t step up for this boy soon, we won’t have any other choice. :,-(

Gunther will thrive in an active home where he can really show off his desire to please you with his tricks! He looooves to run outside and play in water. He is very energetic and would love to be someone’s exercise buddy. Once he plays hard, he’s all snuggles in the bed afterwards!

He is good with social, playful, and easy-going dogs (not recommended for homes with an alpha male). And, definitely no cats for this boy!

Gunther is crate-trained and knows basic commands. Now Gunther just needs his own home and family like his brother was fortunate to find!
