Gulliver (formerly known as Ash) was found in Dallas, Georgia as a stray in horrid condition. This poor boy's coat was filthy and he was extremely emaciated to the point where every bone in his body was clearly visible. The wonderful folks at Paulding County reached out to us and we put out a plea for a foster. This sweet, older gentleman needed us and Gulliver got his freedom ride on 4/4/2019.
Gulliver is extremely happy to be out of the shelter and getting regular meals. He loves food and treats (obviously!). He is steadily gaining some much needed weight and the exposed wounds on his legs are mostly healed, but some of the larger, deeper wounds have lots of scar tissue that will take a good bit of time to heal fully. Despite being super malnourished and likely in some pain, this good boy lets our vets and volunteers do anything to him. He is getting stronger and stronger by the day. Where he once had difficulty walking, he is now able to climb the stairs on his own. Due to him being filthy for so long, he has had many baths and he does well for them. He also appears to be housebroken and crate-trained. Sadly, Gulliver is also heartworm positive and he will be neutered and treated for the heartworms when he is at a healthy weight. This gentleman has a long road to recovery, but he is a champ and is going to make an amazing come-back! Gulliver LOVES to explore the yard, but his absolute favorite thing are butt scratches. He will even "dance" when you scratch his booty. He's not much of a barker, but when he does "bark" it is more of a hoarse hound-dog bay mixed with a smoker's-cough that has earned him the nickname "WOOT." Gulliver is not suited for a home with cats.
Gulliver currently resides at the Pit Bull Palace, but he would really love a foster home. He has not met any dogs yet due to the condition he is in, but he would do best in a home without cats. If you are interested in fostering sweet Gulliver, please complete an application on our website!
