EMERGENCY PLACMENT DEADLINE - EXTENSION 5PM 09/25/24 Name: Guanta Animal ID: A837079 Age: 1 year 5 months Weight: 46 lbs. About: Guanta is a one-year-five-month-old female who came to PACC on September 14th, 2024 as part of a pack of four dogs. This group has a history of containment issues and fatally injuring small dogs and livestock (goats) in their neighborhood; however, its important to note that Guanta was NOT directly involved in most of the past incidents. However, she was involved in the most recent incident with fatally injuring livestock. When groups of dogs are allowed to roam together, pack mentality occurs- these behaviors are not necessarily indicative of each individual dogs behavior. Guanta is an extremely sweet girl despite being undersocialized. She loves to be pet and has a goofy, puppylike personality. She is not leash trained and needs help with this in her future home, but she is eager to bond with her humans and with some confidence building and appropriate time, has the potential to learn anything! Heres what one volunteer said: I had kennelmates Guanta and her two kennelmates out in a play yard this morning. Guanta was nervous leashing up and did a little flailing on her way to the play yard. Its obvious that she was not walked on leash in her former home, but shes learning! Once in the yard, Guanta was as happy as a clam! She is a big sweetie! Guanta was very playful, running zoomies around the yard, leaping over her pals and enjoying rough-and-tumble play.Return to kennel was better and Guanta enjoyed some goodbye pets. She is a good girl with great potential to be a loving family pet! Guanta has interacted very well with other dogs while at the shelter. In a playgroup setting she was a little nervous at first, but initiated and engaged in play and was described as easygoing overall. A confident dog to help guide her in her future home would be great for Guanta. If you can offer Guanta a safe, secure home and help her build up her confidence, please ask about how you can help save her life today. Adoption Requirements and Considerations: Strong Handler: Guanta will need a strong and patient handler to guide her behavior and provide the necessary training. Time to Adjust: Guanta may take time to decompress in a new home, potentially requiring several weeks or even months. Confident Companion: A confident dog companion could help Guanta come out of her shell and build confidence. Gentle Handling: Avoid forcing handling, as it may lead to fear-based reactions. No Livestock or Small Animals: Due to her pack's history, Guanta should not be placed in a home with livestock or small animals. Supervision: Guanta should be closely monitored outside and not left unattended. Leash Control: Always maintain a firm grip on Guanta's leash until she is settled in her new home. Adoption Process: Interested parties: Must visit PACC before the 5:00 PM Tuesday, September 24th deadline to meet with an adoption counselor who will go over Guantas notes and then introduce you to her to ensure that its a good fit. Available for adoption or long-term foster care 30+ days through PACC By providing Guanta with a loving and supportive home, you can help her overcome her challenges and live a happy and fulfilling life.
