Gruber aka Goop came to GSR from Chicago Animal Control as a stray back in June. He had a large growth on his side that needed to be removed ASAP making him urgent. Thankfully a wonderful foster home stepped up and our friends at Glencoe Animal Hospital removed the mass.

After several weeks, we learned the mass was a cutaneous lymphoma tumor. Gruber’s tumor was a solitary lesion, which is best case scenario. It is a rather rare cancer, and the oncologist has seen cases of dogs living years after the lesion is removed. Gruber has been doing fantastic, and no new lesions have developed over the last 6 months! We think it’s time this handsome boy gets adopted.

Gruber is an active boy that LOVES fetch. He is fostered with another GSD and is good with other dogs. Gruber even met a dog savvy cat and did great! He is a typical GSD that needs a minute to check you out. Once he is comfortable, he is a leaner! Gruber is housebroken and crate trained. He loves going on adventures with his foster dad and is great on car rides. Gruber weighs about 87 lbs and around 4/5 years old. We think he would be fine with older children who are savvy.
