Groot's Story

Meet Groot, our lovable two-year-old chunky monkeymonkey!!! He’s a delightful mix of Dachshund, Yorkie, Pug, Chihuahua, Beagle, and maybe a few more breeds too. One thing’s for sure—his affectionate nature shines through in every interaction. Groot has an incredible knack for connecting with both people and his canine pals, adapting to any situation with ease.

He might be a little stubborn at times, showing off his dramatic side when he’s after attention, but his sweet and nurturing spirit always wins the day! Groot gets along well with dogs of all sizes, cats and absolutely adores kids, making him a fantastic family companion. This little attention-seeker thrives on being held and cuddled, loving every moment of physical contact.

Groot loves adventures! Whether he’s enjoying a car ride in a comfy bag or car seat, watching the world go by, playing with friends in doggy playgroups, or exploring new places, he’s always up for fun. He’s a social, confident pup who does best in a home with other playful dog(s). A nice, fenced yard and daily activities like simple park and neighbourhood walks and, of course, endless cuddles are right up his alley. Oh, and let’s not forget binge-watching Netflix together with some yummy snacks—Groot is all about that!
Cuddles and snuggles and sharing pillows at bedtime.

He’s mostly house and crate-trained and has a routine that keeps him happy and healthy, usually holding it for about 8 hours. He’s also doggy door trained and walks nicely on a leash with a good recall off-leash. All in all, Groot is a silly, cheerful, and loving dog who truly flourishes with plenty of human affection and snuggles! Lots of toys will keep him happy too! He's a toy hoarder too.

?Visit our adoption website AdoptAHRescue.org

•Friendly with- Children - Cats - Rabbits - Dogs - Small-breed dogs - Senior pets.

**All Adoptions Include:**
- Spay/Neuter procedure
- Rabies vaccination (offered with 1 or 3-year options)
- Comprehensive core vaccinations, including Leptospirosis and Coronavirus (available for 1 or 3 years)
- Negative heartworm test (if of age)
- Monthly prevention for heartworm, fleas, and ticks
- Negative Lyme disease test
- Deworming and negative faecal test
- Completion of all necessary testing within the last 6-12 months
- All age-appropriate medical needs addressed (blood work, dental check-ups, testing, and medications)
- Lifetime microchip registration with free unlimited updates
- A recommendation to feed a high-quality protein diet
•Veterinary records included

**Adoption Processing:**
- The review of adoption applications, meet and greet, and citation can take up to three weeks.
- A minimum of two meet-and-greet sessions with dogs is required before adoption.
- A home visit with the adoptable pet.
- Out-of-state adopters are welcome at their own expense.
- We DO NOT ship our adoptable pets.
- Adoption fees are payable at the time of adoption.
- No money exchange or requests are required before adoption.
- Payment plans are not available.
Travelling to adopters may be possible at the adopter's expense, with a minimum charge of $60 in addition to the adoption fee.

**For Former AHRS Adopters:**
- A donation of your choice is appreciated, but no formal adoption fee is required; your generosity is valued.

Training is an ongoing journey that requires daily attention; new challenges and opportunities for learning arise routinely and should be embraced.
