Grizz's Story

Meet Grizz – the dog with rizz!

(Yes, he knows he's charming.)

Grizz is a huge lover and just wants to have fun! This sweet, goofy boy is happiest when he's close to his people—leaning his full weight into you for pets, climbing into your lap for hugs, or cuddling on the couch or in bed. If you crouch down, Grizz will happily scoot as close as possible to soak up all the affection. Even when he's excited, a scratch or a pet is all it takes to calm him right down.

Grizz has a wonderful “shadow dog” personality. Whether you're cooking in the kitchen, doing dishes, or working on a project, he'll quietly hang out nearby, often chewing on his toys while keeping you company. He loves toys—especially balls, rubber toys, and squeakies—and can often be found tossing them in the air and proudly catching them himself. Fetch is fun (though he's still learning the “give it back” part!), and tug-of-war is an absolute favorite.

As loving as he is, Grizz is also a high-energy, on-the-go pup who thrives with activity. He loves to run, jump (still a work in progress!), and zoom around the yard—often running celebratory laps after potty time. He's excellent at letting you know when he needs to go outside, usually by circling or sitting by the back door. He enjoys playing chase with other dogs, though his enthusiasm and toy-stealing tendencies can sometimes be a bit much for calmer canine friends. An active family would be a great match for him.

Grizz enjoys being outdoors and is a huge fan of snow. If it's snowing, he will try to catch flakes right out of the sky. I suspect he would love to do the same with leaves in the fall or flowers in the spring!

This smart boy already knows how to sit, shake (with the most polite, gentlemanly handshake!), and understands “Okay!” as his release word. His stay is coming along nicely, and he's working on leash manners and “down.” He can be a puller when something excites him, but for a year-and-a-half old pup, he has an impressive recall to his name and is even great at balancing on his back legs!

Grizz does well with cats and loves other dogs, but sometimes the other dog does not enjoy his high energy levels and toy thievery. Grizz enjoys car rides and going on adventures. He is kennel trained with no accidents. He may bark when you leave or return to let you know he's ready to come out, but settles well otherwise.
