Gretchen is a very friendly toward other dogs, cats, and people. She climbs all over her foster mom and snuggles in her lap. She is playful but not play-aggressive. She is not fond of being alone or being crated, but she does calm down and sleep in her crate. As a street dog having to search for food, she naturally tries to get any food left out. She needs to be crated when humans are eating. However, she is not food aggressive toward humans or other dogs. She loves walks! She would be best in a home with other dogs to play with and someone to take her on walks. Because she was a stray, the family should make sure she is secured whenever outside and doesnt have ready access to doors or gates. She is house-broken and crate-trained. Foster is working on basic commands such as "Come", "Sit", "Down" & " Stay". Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home.

The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies) which includes State of Texas sales tax.

Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard. All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Since all of our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule.
