Gracie—SPECIAL ADOPTER NEEDED Golden Retriever Mix Danville, IN

***We know Gracie is adorable, but she needs a very specific home. Please read carefully and share with anyone you feel may be a good fit!***

Gracie is a 2 year old, 65 pound golden retriever mix who came to us back in April as a stray. She was absolutely terrified, found during a thunderstorm in an area of our county where dogs are frequently dumped. We have spent the last two months working with Gracie, trying to show her that not all humans are bad. She has made friends with some of our employees who frequently spend time with her, but she is still nervous and fearful in new situations and with new people. Unfortunately we don’t believe this will improve until she is out of the shelter environment which is why we are on the hunt for a rescue group or adopter willing to give her a chance. In order to set her up for success in a new home, we believe she will need the following:

?A patient, calm, dog-savvy family willing to give her the time and space needed during her adjustment period

?A home with a fenced-in yard to ensure her safety

?A home without small dogs or cats due to some prey drive she has displayed. She has successfully met other dogs her size, and a meet and greet will be required with any existing dogs in a potential new home to ensure a good fit.

Although we may be asking for a lot, we want to do our best to ensure Gracie’s next home is her last one! Please help us by sharing with anyone (private adopter or rescue group) you feel may be able to help. Gracie needs a hero.
