Meet Grace
pet id 46855429
Grace is an approximately 2 year old Cane Corso mastiff who came to the shelter as a stray and was never claimed. She is absolutely stunning, with the softest golden coat, big floppy ears, long sweeping tail and loves to be with her person.
When she first arrived in our care, this big brindle lady was not too happy to be here, and let everyone around her know this. With the help of a wonderful trainer, Grace's fun and friendly side quickly emerged. She is now much happier and eager to make new friends!
Grace is very much "a bull in a china shop" and is very strong, with little manners but she wants to be outside with you and learns quickly what you want from her. She shows signs of being housetrained and loves to sniff in the sights of the city on her walks.
Grace's new family will definitely need to put some time and effort into exercise and training her. She has been fine with the other dogs she has met thus far at the shelter.
As evidenced in the pictures, Grace has a condition known as "cherry eye" which will be fixed at no extra cost to her adopters when she is spayed, post adoption.
During her temperament evaluation, Grace displayed a fairly minor food guarding issue when prodded. This may or may not come into play when she settles into her new home, but her family should monitor it.
We think she might be a bit too much for smaller kids.
We think this sweet girl would do best with a family who had some large breed and mastiff experience.
Because of the COVID19 situation, the shelter is closed to the general public. If you would like to meet any of the adoptable dogs, please fill out an application online (if you are not already pre-approved) , call the shelter, and leave a message with your name and phone number and the dog you're interested in. Have patience, and they will call you back when they can. From there, a time will be scheduled for you to come and meet the dog. Please be patient, and remember they are very short staffed at the moment.
