Requirements:
Vetting requirements (see our website)

Preference:
Children/playful smaller dog

Goose was born in our care on March 16. His mother is a Shih-tzu and his father is said to be a miniature poodle. We do not guarantee these pups are Shi-poos. Goose is the only boy of the pups and at the age of 9 weeks weighed 4.5 lbs. We do not know his adult size. His mom is 12 lbs.

Goose is the shyest of the bunch and very sensitive to fast movement and bigger dogs. We have socialized him with both but he has been fearful of bigger dogs and children running. Foster mom will continue to work on him with these things, so keep these in mind if thinking of applying. We may determine he would be better suited for a family with a smaller dog and older children. Goose has done very well with his behavioral training at the guidance of Puppy Culture and wins a gold star at manding. Manding is giving puppies a voice (think of deaf people learning sign language) and is used to ask for things that he wants. Goose mainly wants a treat or some snuggle time. Goose has done pretty well at the scent games and is learning to use his nose in lots of different ways. Goose has been exposed to new things almost daily and he is accustomed to normal household sounds, thunderstorms and car rides. Goose is still working on not being afraid of the grooming tools and foster mom has worked a lot with him on this as he will need frequent and routine grooms.

Goose is currently eating a raw diet from BJ's Raw. An adopter may switch him to dry kibble, but we do encourage adopters to look into the benefits of raw.

Goose's adoption fee is $500. He is microchipped and received the age appropriate vaccines (subsequent vaccines are at the adopter's expense). He is not neutered and a spay/neuter contract is required. The neuter is covered by Leia's Hope if using our vet. Visit leiashope.org for our process.

WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG. IF FLYING, DOGS MUST FLY IN THE CABIN AND THE EXPENSE OF THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE IS ON THE ADOPTER.

THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS.

IT CAN TAKE AT LEAST 7 DAYS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION SOMETIMES LONGER DEPENDING ON VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE VOLUNTEERS WITH FAMILIES AND FULL TIME JOBS AND DOGS OF OUR OWN TO CARE FOR.

IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): YOU MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE OR SOMEONE HOME ALL DAY. PUPPIES NEED TO BE LET OUT TO POTTY OFTEN, THEY NEED SOCIALIZATION AND BONDING AND NEED TRAINING (HOUSETRAINING AND BEHAVIORAL TRAINING). IF YOU WORK LONG HOURS, HAVE A BUSY SOCIAL SCHEDULE OR NOT FINANCIALLY SECURE THEN A PUPPY IS NOT FOR YOU.
