Goose Write-up

ATTENTION: IF YOU THINK YOU MAY BE INTERESTED IN FOSTERING AND/OR ADOPTING THIS DOG, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

1. Interested parties must complete and submit an application FIRST.
You can download it from our website: www.tarheelweimrescue.org
We are a small group of volunteers, so we are not able to discuss the dogs without an application on file. You will be contacted after your application has been received and reviewed. At that time you can discuss any questions with your placement officer.
2. On your application, please state whether you are ONLY interested in this dog or if you are open to other available dogs. (We get new dogs all the time who may not yet be posted!)
3. We do adopt to approved applicants outside our immediate region, however, we do not transport or ship dogs to their new homes. Adopters must come to NC to meet and take home their new dog. If the adoption doesn’t work out for any reason, the adopter must return the dog to the point of origin in NC.

Hey, my name is Goose! I am 2 years old and have a lot of energy. My foster family would describe me as “cuddly, affectionate, energetic, and adventurous”.

I am very social and love meeting new people! However I can be protective in the home so if I’m going to meet a new friend my people have to let them in and introduce us.

I love other dogs, but I’m definitely more people driven, and would rather be on the couch with my people than wherever the other dogs are. I am great with everyone and love children so I would make a great family dog. I absolutely can not have a cat in my home because instead of seeing them as a friend I see them as a snack. I am very reactive to them even when I see them outside through a window.

I love to play chase in the yard with my foster siblings, but haven’t shown much interest in playing with dogs. I have gotten along with all the dogs I have met, and listen well to other dogs body language and corrections. I love playing fetch with my humans.

I also love walks around the lake at the park near my foster family’s house, but don’t care much about the water. Really, I love any walk!

After I’m all tired out I love to nook on my blankets and take a nap with my people near me. I love nooking on my blankets, but will nook on anything I can get including blankets I’m not supposed to have, pillows, and clothes.

I have pretty good manners and don’t usually get into human things or counter surf. My foster family believes I am not very destructive because I have plenty of toys and bones keep me occupied. I am a power chewer and can destroy just about anything. I do have a special affinity for remote controls, though, and those need to be stored where I can’t get them.

I am learning about not jumping on big humans, but don’t seem to jump on little ones. I know how to sit and we are working on laying down. I also know to sit and wait for meals. I have very good leash manners and prefer to walk out in front of you, but will not pull you along behind me. I am not crate trained and will not even touch a crate, but I do not cause trouble while my humans are not supervising me or are out of the house. I also don’t sleep in a crate and love to sleep in bed with the people.

Lastly I would thrive best with someone home a lot.
