Gonzo Pit Bull Terrier Mix Eagle, ID

It's Spring. And just like nature, a new Gonzo is blossoming. Not only does he have an amazing personality, but his true handsomeness is emerging. Gonzo is a black and white 9 year old neutered male Pit Bull Terrier mix. When he first came to the rescue Gonzo was diagnosed with a thyroid issue. He has been taking thyroid medicine for 2 months and is now really showing improvements. He is enjoying increased energy, healthier skin and new shiny hair.

We at Gonzo’s foster home, love Spring. He has been a perfect companion to usher in the beautiful weather and to keep us company as we hunker down during the COVID 19 stay-at-home period. As his energy is increasing, he has gone from a sluggish short walk to a longer walk/jog. He has the most adorable perfect paced little trot. Walk a bit, trot a bit, smell a bit, and then huh-huhm, you know. At last check, Gonzo has lost 15 pounds since coming into foster care, weighing in at 115 lbs of pure cuddle and cuteness. He enjoys meeting both people and dogs while outside. It’s also been discovered that playing in the water and lapping it up from a hose or sprinkler is a favorite outdoor activity. Other yard activities include sunbathing and rolling in the grass, overseeing gardening activities, greeting passers by at the back fence next to the walking path, and getting a good belly rub. Gonzo is a goofy player. He kinda fetches if the mood strikes; or he just watches at the ball or frisbee whooshes by his nose. He can drop the ball and sit. One of his favorite toys is a squeaky tennis ball! Other times he bounces and pounces while throwing a toy around.

Gonzo is sweet and displays good manners inside as well. He has adapted quite easily to his foster sister - a small, old, blind, deaf Havanese. They are well behaved together at mealtime, medicine time and treat time. He loves treats, but is very gentle when taking treats from your hand. Gonzo gives her plenty of space and doesn't mind when she comes around or lays next to him. As much as Gonzo enjoys being outside, he loves to be a dog of leisure when he's inside. He loves to lay on his pillow or find a spot of sunshine streaming in from the window or lounge up on the couch. He's the perfect TV companion to snuggle up with while you're binge-watching Netflix during quarantine. He loves being petted and massaged, and he doesn't have any sensitive areas to touch. He loves being brushed and pampered. He is crate trained, but prefers just being out and social with the family. At night time he casually does his own thing. Sometimes he chooses to sleep on the couch and sometimes he'll sleep on his pillow in the master bedroom. This boy can hold his bladder! No worries about night time accidents.

Gonzo is so chill and lovable and snugglable. He deserves serious consideration because he deserves the ideal forever home. One meet and greet and he'll steal your heart. Please consider him as you are looking for the perfect addition to your family. You won't find an easier dog to bring into your home, family, and heart.
