MY AGE: approx. 7-8 yrs. WEIGHT: approx. 12 lbs. WHERE I AM FROM: AL

MY STORY:

3/17/2018:-Sweet Ginger has been with me several months now, and I can’t figure out why. She would be a fantastic companion to someone who wants an only dog. She is most likely 7-8 years old, but is active, snuggly and fun.

Ginger is a sweet dog that will do best in a home with no other dogs. She prefers to be by her person, and doesn’t at all engage with my dogs. She is okay around older kids, but is not going to be the type that is wagging her tail waiting for them to come home from school. She does wag her tail at me though, and gets quite excited when she sees me, she just like adults better.

Ginger has been to the Groomer’s twice, and was excellent, they really enjoyed her. Car riding is one of her favorite activities, and if she knows I am going somewhere, runs to the door, hoping she can ride along. She is excellent in the car, and if I have to run a quick errand stays in the car quietly. She also likes going for walks, and has a favorite toy she enjoys playing and snuggling with.

All of my dogs are Ginger’s age or older and have many years of fun left in them, so to me, this age is not that old. We often have trouble finding adopters once a dog is 5 years of age and older, and I wish that wasn’t the case, as they are still plenty young!

Ginger likes to be near me. When I first got her she would follow me from room to room, but now that she is comfortable, does not always follow, in fact sometimes I find her still on the couch, or in a dog bed in another area of the house. She is pretty low maintenance, seems to be house trained, and goes potty right away when let outside! I have a fenced yard, and she goes quickly, and then runs back to the door to be let in. At first she cried when I left for errands or work, but now she knows the routine, and doesn’t make any noise. I put her in a gated area of my home, that has a few dog beds and toys, give her a little treat, and she settles right down until I return. I do not crate her, she sleeps in my bed at night, and stays sleeping until I have to get up. I sometimes find her in the bathroom, sleeping on the floor or rug, and wonder if previous owners put her there at night to sleep.

Ginger has one cataract in her left eye, but it does not bother her, two of my other dogs have had the same issue. One had surgery, one could not. If having sight restored in that eye is something you’d be interested in, you can always have that checked out. One of my dog’s eye sight could be restored, and one couldn’t. It is not painful, and does not bother her. She has had a dental, so is good to go!

Ginger is a dog that is easy to fall in love with. At first I was drawn to her because it was obvious she was not well taken care of in her previous life, and I love fostering a dog clearly in need of rescuing, and watching them learn to trust and become comfortable, while waiting for their forever home. Now, she is just a quirky, sweet, easy little girl, who we have all fallen in love with. Whoever adopts her will be lucky!! As a side note…I call her Millie, but if inquiring about her please refer to her name as Ginger, which is what all her paperwork says.

Ginger has been in my home for longer than most fosters, and I am so looking forward to having her find her forever homes, which all dogs deserve.

I have a blog with many additional pictures. The address is https://fluffyfostering4.blogspot.com/
