Ginger's owner died on Mother's Day. She was alone in her backyard with family members attempting to care for her. No one could get near Ginger as she was exhibiting extremely aggressive behaviors. Jason was called to help and was able to wrestle Ginger into his van to transport her to our vet. Once at the vet, her demeanor changed completely … she was sweet, giving the staff kisses and allowed them to bathe her and even cut her nails.
Ginger had already been spayed. Her leg was broken long ago and has healed funny, but our biggest concern was the mass on her rear end. We took her to GVS for evaluation. They did an ultra-sound that determined it is non-cancerous and the vet thought he could remove the lipoma. He wanted this mass removed ASAP as there is a concern that it would hinder the functionality of her urethra. The mass was removed on July 26, 2013 (it was probably the size of a cantaloupe!), and she has recovered wonderfully. As if Ginger couldn’t catch a break, she was also heartworm positive. She has since been treated and is heartworm-free.
Ginger is a very large, low-energy gal. She is house-broken and crate-trained. She is very cautious around new people and will keep her distance, but given a little space, she will warm up. Once she is comfortable, she will give you sweet little kisses. Ginger is an easy girl to care for and she has a lot of sweet love to give!
