Gigio's Story
Gigio is a 6 year old PB Boston Terrier who is seeking a new ADULT ONLY forever home, within the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley, and possibly Vancouver Island if the fit is perfect.

He is a very affectionate, loving and happy dog. He listens very well, is house trained, doesn't have separation anxiety, and is not destructive when left alone.

Gigio can get easily over excited and over stimulated, and when he does, it's hard to get him to focus or settle. So it's best not to put him in situations where he goes over his threshold levels.

That being said, Gigio would like a quiet home, in a quiet neighborhood, no apartments, no busy townhome complexes. He would love a detached home with his own fully fenced yard to hang out in, but not having one isn't a deal breaker

He can be reactive to dogs he does not know. But he has made quite a few doggie friends here at the shelter. Every new dog intro needs to be done in a fully controlled environment, and he won't immediately get along with a new dog. After several controlled meet ups, he starts to settle down.

Leash walks may be a bit stressful due to his dog reactivity. You won't be able to go up to other dogs in face to face meetings. Off leash dog parks are not recommended.

He seems to be very happy without going on leash walks. Enjoying the ability to use the doggie door to access the large back yard to play in, and sun tan. He especially loves sitting in the sun on the patio.

If you feel you don't need a dog to take on walks, and can have Joe exercise in your fenced yard, this would work for him. We don't think he was well socialized with other dogs as a puppy, hence his reactivity. He could easily adapt to having another dog friend in the home

If you feel you have the experience to work with Gigio and his reactivity, and would love to welcome him into your home regardless, he would absolutely love that chance!

Gigio will also react to the door bell, and this will send him over his threshold. If you are expecting company, putting him in a crate til he settles is the best way to go. Once he's calm, he is totally fine and friendly with visitors.

Gigio is extremely food focused and begs for food even after he just ate. He eats very fast so a slow feeder bowl is required.

Gigio did have a bout of Pancreatitis in the past, from being fed High Fat foods, so he will need to be fed a low fat diet (no raw please due to HGE) for the remainder of his life.

Gigio (sometimes we just call him Joe), is an affectionate and loving little companion, who needs an understanding human, who will not set him up for fail.

His adoption fee is $495. He is neutered, UTD on his Vaccines and microchipped.

An application and home visit is mandatory

Please go to our website to submit the online adoption application by copying and pasting this link into your web browser

https://lowermainlandhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/
