Gigi - adopted! Border Collie Mix Minneapolis, MN

Gigi is a sweet (and we mean the sweetest!), soft-hearted Border Collie mix who is approximately 18 months old. She should weigh around 35 lbs but is about 30 right now. We are helping her slowly and safely put on a few pounds. She’s as beautiful inside as she is on the outside. She can’t wait to find a lovely family to connect with emotionally and call her own.

Gentle and kind, Gigi wants to be with her people as much as she can. She is not a confident dog yet, but with love and patience, she will be. She delights in the 8 and 10 year old kids in her foster home, cuddling with them on the couch and soaking up their adoration. Homes with rambunctious children/toddlers would be difficult for her to handle, but gentle older kids are just great. She is intimidated by loud noises and will run if something scares her, so we are requiring a physically fenced yard for her safety (she is not a candidate for invisible fencing).

Gigi’s new family should lovingly encourage her to continue to blossom. She seems unsure how to act and we want her to learn to be herself, knowing that she will be adored for that alone. She enjoys going for walks with her people and largely ignores other dogs in her foster home, preferring human companionship. She can live with another dog and would do best with a canine companion to model confident, trusting behaviors. We have not tested her with cats but do not believe she would chase them.

Gigi is trustworthy loose in the house as long as food is secured. She is a very talented counter surfer, probably because she’s underweight and always on the lookout for snacks. As she learns to trust her humans and knows food is readily available, this behavior will wane. Like a typical Border Collie, once she is nicely asked not to do something, she stops right away.

Truly a sweetheart anxious to find her place in the world, Gigi has so much love to give the family that will invest in helping her become more confident. She will be a wonderful best friend!

As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Gigi's adoption fee is $350 + MN sales tax. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines.
