Sanctuary Update : Gidget has been in a foster home in Ukiah but we would love a new foster or forever home for her. She continued to have difficulty with the leash and house training and her foster tried to work with her on both but she kept having accidents in the home and could not grasp the concept of going outside when she needed to go potty. Because of this she currently shares a cabin and a yard with two other dogs rather than being loose in the home (which would be ideal for her in order to continue building trust.) The little doggy cabin is heated and has furniture etc and she is allowed to come into the house daily to jump up on the couch with her foster mom and when settled next to her she can pet her and give her love. She is loving playing/cuddling with other dogs and is no longer hiding from her foster mom and will come up to her for treats, but still lacks the confidence to solicit attention of her own. She is a non-aggressive little girl that loves other dogs, but she continues to not be able to grasp the concept of not peeing inappropriately and will need continued patience and time to build trust as she is still an aloof and flighty little girl. Please email email@example.com if you feel that you might be able to help Gidget move forward with her socialization/housetraining.
Former Bio:Gidget is currently at the Milo Sanctuary. Her friend Tink has been adopted but she has made new doggy friends. She continues to be shy, but she is clearly a sweet little girl who would love to be in a stable and loving home. If you would like to help a wee one who is in need of a foster or adoptive home in order to build up their confidence, Gidget would be a wonderful choice! You could make a huge difference for a sweet little lady who very much wants to trust and love. Please send applications for Gidget to firstname.lastname@example.org
*Former foster notes* 6/11/15 "Gidget and Tink are sweet girls. They are timid and need time to trust people but they do enjoy a good lap to lay on. They have been sleeping in my room, Gidget in bed next to me and Tink at the foot of the bed. They are very attached to each other. They love to play together and do not like to be separated. They did well with our dogs, large and small. They are good dogs they would be well placed in a quiet home with a person willing to work with them to bring them out of their shells."
Pre-Milo shelter notes: "Gidget needs a warm lap, and someone to dote on her. She is shut down here, and just wants to cling to someone and be held. During her behavior evaluation she was very scared, but easy to handle. She showed no interest in food or treats. Rescue was requested because of her fearfulness.
When I went to see Gidget today, she was curled up, looking depressed. When I sat down next to her, she raised her head to check me out, then gently took treats from me. She continued to daintily lick my fingers long after the treats were gone, while gazing up at me with those big eyes!"
