Meet Gia ADOPTED:)

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html

Gia's owner in Cedar Falls, Iowa, can no longer keep him so he is now a Waverly Pet Rescue doggy and living in a foster home . He is up to date on shots, dewormed, tested heartworm negative, started on heartguard and was already neutered.

Gia is about 14-years old. He is usually scared of new people so needs his next home to be his forever and last home. Moving to a new foster home has been hard on him but going to a shelter environment would have been harder on him. He is starting to settle in after a couple of weeks of being in hos foster home.

Gia does well with older children, cats, and other laid back dogs. He liked young kids but at his age, he would prefer a quiet home. He only has one tooth but he eats soft food just fine. He is house trained but may have an accident if you don't see him go to door. He very good dog. He sleeps a lot and loves being lap dog.

He has come a long way since that first day he went to his foster home. He still mostly stays in his crate and to himself. Lately he has come out to let us know he needs to go outside. He tolerates our other dogs. He does have some vision issues it seems to us. He does well outside and has been more adventurous in the yard to check things out.

11/14/21 UPDATE: He does just fine with eating. He eats mostly the soft shredded food and likes it. Has quite a healthy appetite. Yes he only has one tooth. My mom watched him over the weekend and said he loves to be outside. You barely know he’s there. Stays to himself. He likes attention but only when he wants it. A true Chihuahua attitude.

Will someone please adopt Gia and give him a true forever home? $100.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
