Meet Ghost- Tripod
Not left at a shelter. Not handed over to someone with a promise. I was dumped — abandoned on a dirt road, far outside the city where no one would find me. No traffic. No people. No help.
Just me… and a broken front leg, hanging limply at my side.
I don’t know how long I laid there. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t move. The pain in my leg was unbearable, but worse than the pain was the silence. The waiting. The fear that no one was coming.
When someone finally found me, they scanned my microchip and called my owner. He lied. Said he didn’t know me. Then someone tried again — from a different phone. This time, he told the truth.
“Yeah… you can keep him.”
That was all. No remorse. No concern. Just… discard me like trash and walk away.
But rescuers didn’t walk away. They said yes. They rushed to help me.
I was taken into surgery quickly to try and fix my broken leg — the rescue wanted to save it, save me, give me a chance. But the repair didn’t hold. The bone didn’t heal. Even after everything, the leg still hung there, useless and painful.
So I had another surgery — this time to remove it.
They had to amputate my front leg.
It was a hard loss. Front legs carry so much of a dog’s weight, and for a big, active young husky like me, it changed everything. But you know what didn’t change?
My heart.
I’m still Ghost. Still sweet. Still goofy. Still full of love. Still bursting with husky energy and a desire to run, play, and live a life that finally includes joy.
I’ve made an incredible recovery. I’m great with other dogs. I love the water. I’m fully potty trained and crate trained. I’m still vocal (classic husky!) and I’d do amazing with a fenced yard where I can hop around like the tripod boss I am.
I’m a survivor. I’m resilient. I’m a young husky with three legs and a whole lot of love to give.
Please don’t overlook me because of what I’ve lost. I’ve already been abandoned once — I don’t want to be passed over again.
What I need now… is a home. Someone who won’t give up on me. Someone who doesn’t care that I only have three legs — because I’ve got the heart of a dog with ten.
I am Ghost. And I deserve to be loved. Ghost is located in Miami, FL, and eligible for our biweekly transport service to Northern states, which is included in the adoption fee. Apply to adopt Ghost today at sunshineanimalrescue.org/adopt.
