Meet Ghost

He’s goofy and he’s bossy
He’s sassy and he’s saucy
He’s sometimes very naughty
It’s Ghost the GSD!
He’s sweet but he’s a stinker
If you’re a savvy leader
Who’ll make him use his thinker
Meet Ghost the GSD!

Oh, Ghost. This child has stolen all of our hearts, but he’s a handful. Unfortunately, a bit too much of a handful for his foster-to-adopt home. So Ghost boy here is back on the market and hoping to find his forever family!

Since he’s been back in rescue, Ghost has completed several weeks of training and doggie bootcamp. He is exceptionally smart – sometimes too smart for his own good – but that means he lights up when training and working his commands. He is VERY good at compliance when he is required to be.

Ghost is now proficient in recall, heel, down, sit, and place (climb). And just ask any of us who swear by that place/climb command ... most of us learned it because we have dogs like Ghost! When things get too exciting in the house or you just need to require his best behavior, send that pup to place and have him chill out.

And that’s exactly the kind of home he needs. Because Ghost will get into trouble if he sees the chance to. Ghost’s future humans need to be those who shut the shenanigans DOWN when a 2-year-old brash, over-confident GSD tries to take charge or get his way.

Like many (most?) GSDs his age, Ghost’s instincts are to guard and protect. When he’s not checked for that behavior and expected to defer to the humans of the house, he can be a butthead. Herding, nipping, snarking, and being a poor neighbor to dogs in neighboring yards.

But, when with experienced dog people and held to consistent expectations of good manners (and corrected for any poor ones), he shines. He definitely knows his manners ... but he requires a home who will hold him to them.

If you do that, you’ll also get to discover his sweet side. When he understands you’re the boss, he’s happy to revert to couch duty and snuggles.

Ghost does need a home with no small children—that’s just too much excitement for him and he’s way too much dog for that environment. Nobody will have a good time.

No small animals for Ghost either, but he does well with dogs his size with proper introductions. Once friends with a dog buddy, he enjoys playing immensely!

His trainer will ensure his future humans understand everything he’s learned and how to keep that up in his new home for a life of success. So if this handsome-but-pushy devil makes your heart go ping, we’d love to hear from you.
