Meet Gerry

Gerry, or Gear-Bear, as she's known, simply loves life and her people. She cannot get enough attention and is often wiggling her way into family activities such as basketball, Twister, and playing in the yard. And, she is quite generous with kisses and cuddles. She does all of this despite having Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) progressive genetic neurological disorder that affects her balance (Ready for Rescue will cover all medical expenses).

Watching Gerry is an inspiration. When she arrived in her foster home, Gerry could barely walk and needed support with a special harness. By her third or fourth day she was navigating the house and back yard with no support. She plays with the other dogs, she runs in the leaves and grass, she loves catch... and if she loses her balance, she gets right back up and keeps going. Whenever she goes on a walk, she wags her little tail off when she meets new people. And her happy dance is hands down the most adorable thing you will ever see.

Gerry's condition, NCL, is terminal. Most dogs can live for about five years following diagnosis, but we don't know how long Gerry showed symptoms. As of now, she is able to enjoy every aspect of her life and is estimated to be between 3 and 5 years old (and about 65 lb.).

She would do best with a calm, dog-savvy family (older kids ok) who have a yard. She is being fostered with other dogs and they mostly do great but there have been a scuffle or two due to resource guarding. Gerry puts the SPECIAL in special needs and deserves a special, loving home. Inquire about her today.
