Meet George ADOPTED:)
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

George was born August 10th, 2023 so is about 3 months old as of November 12th, 2023. His owner lives in La Porte City, Iowa. He is now getting the mother dog spayed so this doesn't happen again. George is a Waverly Pet Rescue puppy now and lives in a foster home.
George is a sweet pup. He weighs almost 20 pounds already. His mom is a chocolate lab. Not sure who his father was. He looks like a black lab but could change as he grows. Not sure how big he will get. A guess will be about 40 or 50 pounds, maybe bigger?
George is in a foster home with other dogs, cats, and children so he will be good with all of them! George will be able to go into any home, be good on walks, and at dog parks. Full exposure as a puppy will make George a great canine citizen. George is doing good! He is working on potty training and has gone a full 5 hours at night without having to go out. I have my mom helping me by going over during the day to let them out to prevent accidents in the crate. And honestly, he has only had a few accidents in the house and are getting the hang of going in and out to go potty. Will need continued training when he gets adopted and is in his forever home.
George is a sweet boy. He loves to play and run around. Has a lot of puppy energy. Needs a home that has time and love to continue working with him, training him, and spending time with him.
George has 1st distemper / parvo vaccine, dewormed, flea preventative, and started on Heart Guard. When he is old enough, he will need a rabies vaccine. We have his neuter set up for 12/6/23 at our vet in Waverly. If you are local and adopt him before that, you will be required to get him to that appointment. If you are not local, you can get him neutered at your own vet and then have your vet email us the proof of his neuter.
George adoption fee:
If our vet in Waverly neuters George: $350.00 adoption fee + $100 neuter deposit = $450
If your vet neuters George: $250 adoption fee + $100 neuter deposit = $350
Once he is neutered at our vet, you will receive a check in the mail to get your neuter deposit back.
Or
Once he is neutered at your vet and we receive the proof by email, you will receive a check in the mail to get your neuter deposit back.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
