Meet Gemma (Reduced Rover - Cafe Dog)

Gemma is part of our Reduced Rover Program. Her adoption fee is $100 and includes a one-on-one training session for Gemma and her adopter.

Meet Mama Gemma! You have seen her story… that poor Mama dog, due any day and stuck in an overcrowded shelter. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owner when she accidently got out and the neighbor intentionally got her pregnant with their dog. She was days from being euthanized.

How her cards have changed! This beautiful Mama pulled on so many heart strings and was pulled by a wonderful rescue. She knew she was safe and automatically got comfortable in her foster Mama's home. Soon after she gave birth to a handful of beautiful babies! She was an amazing mommy to her puppies, it’s evident that before rescue she had countless litters of practice. Thankfully this was the final one for her, it’s her turn to get all the attention from here on out.

Gemma is now ready for her forever home! She is about 7-8 years old but don’t let her age fool you. This gal still has a lot of pep in her step! Gemma loves going on hunts in the yard for lizards and especially loves going for walks. She does great on a leash, but beware of the kittys. She's a little too interested in them, so it's best to keep your distance. Gemma would love to find a calm, peaceful loving place to call her furever home. Gemma is dog friendly and does love to play and then relax with her friends. She is goofy and knows she is Miss Popular, and she loves it! Gemma becomes your friend quickly with some treats and affection.

Gemma has gone through her heartworm treatment and completed it successfully. She’s now spayed as well!

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250

*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!

For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq
