Meet Gator

Gator and his sister Croc were found as strays on a dirt road in Bedford. A kind resident called Animal Control to come help these puppies. If you are asking, where did these names come from, it is because when you put a harness on these puppies, they do the alligator roll. The breed looks like Labrador and Hound mix. Gator is large for a 3 month old puppy, therefore BHS assumes will be a large adult. Both puppies are friendly and love attention. Being so young and with no early training, both will jump around with excitement, including jumping on their people. They have a good time playing with each other and their toys but are happiest when they have a person to play with. Both puppies need to be trained simple commands and need to be trained to potty outside. They are being kept in an outside kennel at their foster home for now. They do hold their potty until they are let out of the kennel which is a start to house training. Neither puppy are mouthy and do not bark much. All applications will be evaluated for the best fit for such young puppies. Gator has been dewormed, microchipped, and has received the Distemper-Parvo-Lepto combination vaccine and have been administered flea/tick treatment.

Since he is not yet neutered, Gator is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County.

For more information, please call the Bedford Humane Society at 540-586-6100, or go to www.bhsva.org/adoptions-home.htm to fill out an adoption application.
