Meet Gandolph

Its been about a year since I've been lucky to live at AGPR. I spent my first 18 months living with free range on a property with chicken and pigs and other animals prior to being surrendered. About a dozen and a half of us were released and needed a "soft landing". Thank goodness AGPR had room for me.

I was so scared of being moved to a new environment that I refused to walk. The volunteers worked with me and pretty soon I was walking on a leash. I'm still pretty nervous around new people but I've never hurt anyone. When approached in a nonconfrontational way, I'm fine with having you put a leash on me and take me for a walk. There is nothing I like more than a walk on a leash... Oh wait - there is something better - I love playing in the yard with my BFF Cherry. We love to romp and play and do a little wrestling.

My AGPR friends are listing me as having "special needs". I need love and patience and understanding that I was not properly socialized with humans in my puppyhood. I need to go slow and be given a chance to trust and gain confidence with my new family. Perhaps a calm home environment? Another friendly dog would really help (maybe you'll consider adopting Cherry if you don't have another dog????).

Look deep into my gorgeous eyes and think about whether you have what it takes to give me an awesome life.

All Great Pyrenees require a fenced-in yard (at least four foot high). If you have questions about the breed or our adoption policies and procedures, please go to our website at www.agprescue.org. There's plenty of good information about the breed on our website - Pyrs aren't a breed for everyone!

Our adoption application is online: http://agprescue.org/adoption-application/agpr-application-donations/ Please note that we are a small regional rescue organization. We will consider adopting to families within a four to five hour drive to Richmond, VA
