Meet Gamora (aka Maura)! She's a 2 yr old, 60lb 100% cattle dog. Gamora had a hard start in life and deserves a perfect “furever” home. She was abandoned by her family around the age of 1 and had been living with animal control for almost a year. She was extremely scared and showed signs of fear aggression when she was first picked up, but she was well taken care of in the hands of animal control before she was transferred to foster care. Gamora’s a typical heeler: a Velcro dog and loves to be with her human, whether lounging inside or hanging outside. She travels well and rides quietly in the car both alone and with her foster siblings. She likes treats, toys and playing fetch and also knows how to sit. She absolutely loves playing in the sprinkler and kiddie pool. She's shown no signs of food aggression and is gentle with treats.
Gamora gets along with other dogs with EXTREMELY SLOW introductions. It took five weeks for her to trust and play with her foster siblings, but is partial to females. Gamora is learning how to be a dog by mimicking and following her foster siblings around and is still getting the hang of things. Gamora shows a lot of interest in cats and would give chase if given the chance so a house without cats or small critters is recommended unless you have dog savvy felines. She does very well on a leash, but has shown fear aggression towards dogs unknown to her on walks. Gamora is crate trained and house trained. She's extremely affectionate once you're in her circle of trust, but is very leery and cautious of new people. She does better with females and is very selective with males that she trusts. She has not had any interaction with children and doesn’t understand personal space and will probably knock them over if they are in her path.
Gamora may not be a good fit with a busy household (with lots of new guests or with kids coming/going). She is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped and is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. This sweet girl is easy to love and will make someone a great companion and best friend, especially if you like wet kisses! Gamora is being fostered in Buzzards Bay, MA. If you have questions about her please contact her foster mom, sweirbrick@yahoo.com.
