Hi! My name is Fury, and I am a 3-4 year old Rottweiler, though my foster dad keeps saying something about a bear. I have had a tough few months. My mom had to leave me with the Midlands Humane Society because she was unwell, and I am bigger than her. She was very sad, but took me to the people she trusted to help me find a new family to love. MHS adopted me out one time, but it wasn't the right fit and I came back. Then the wonderful staff reached out to MARR, knowing they could help me out.
While I was at MHS, the staff played with me and loved on me, even though I am big and act goofy. I stayed in the back area where a few people took care of me every day, but it got scary after a while and I started having to bark at new people for "stranger danger!" Then my new foster dad came to see me a few times. He seemed ok. I heard my best friend at MHS tell him I'm something called a "big dopey mushbag", which made him smile. He came back to visit me a few times, and then finally I got to leave MHS and become a MARR dog! I was very sad to leave my favorite people, but new foster dad said I'd be okay.
I have now been at my new foster home for a week. Things started off rough, because I like to play. A lot. There are also other dogs that bark at me through glass doors and gates. I *think* I might want to play with them, but new foster dads said I should wait to be friends. There is also a really brave cat I have to tell to back off. I don't know if I like cats or not... So with so much stuff going on in the first couple of days, I got really grumpy with my foster dads. Now we have a routine in the house, so everyone is calmed down and I'm told I'm a "good boy" lots.
I am doing well in whatever "decompression" is. I play a lot outside, and up in the room where I spend time with one of my foster dads. I really love my toys, and will trade them for treats. I can play for a long time by myself! But I always check in on whichever dad is hanging out with me, and flop on their lap and remind them I need lots of pets and loves! I eat my three meals a day well, and I don't mind if my dads are near my food. I know how to take treats nicely, and I love my Kong filled with peanut butter and snacks! I go in my crate when I am asked, but I know how to bust out when I want. My dads figured out how to keep the door secured with clips, so now I stay pretty calm with my toys for a few hours when they're away.
I wear a muzzle once in a while, and know how to put it on for a reward! I get a lot of treats lately because I figured out what they meant when they were saying "sit". I know how to go to the bathroom outside, and I like to be brushed.
My dads just worry because I am not always able to relax well. When I hear the other dogs playing I get very excited, and then they bark back at me. My dads spend a lot of time apart so that all of the dogs in the house get love and attention. I don't want them split up so much. I think a new foster home would be all right, and I hear a "forever home" is awesome.
I really love my people. I know I am big and scary looking, and my foster dad says I have the biggest feet he's ever seen. I like to play, and might like to make friends with another dog or two after a couple of weeks of learning a new routine and relaxing. Cats might be ok. My mom had one, but this new one is scary!
If you know what it's like to have a bear like me around, with my happy play-mouthing, barking and tackling, and you can deal with all of my love (which my dads say I have a LOT to give and always want even more back), let MARR know if you could be my new foster or forever home. Foster dad said to tell anyone interested he's happy to talk to possible families about me, but that they "better be ready for this jelly". Whatever that means...
