Fritz - LOCAL's Story

Meet Fritz -- One Blue-Eyed Wonder!

Fritz is a stunning white pittie mix with one brilliant blue eye and a heart as big as his head! He was saved from the euthanasia list at the Memphis Animal Shelter just in time--not for anything he did, but simply because they needed space. His story could have ended there, but lucky for all of us, it didn't.

After his rescue, Fritz blossomed in his Memphis foster home, where he quickly became a favorite among the family. and now in his local foster home, he continues to be such a pleasure!

Fritz is deaf, but that hasn't slowed him down in the least.

This boy is a certified couch potato and A+ snuggler. He wants to be close to you, next to you, or at least within view--but he's not overly needy. He's perfectly happy to lounge with a bone while you go about your day (though in his perfect world, you'd never leave home without him)

Foster has been making great strides with his separation anxiety. He's now able to free roam the house for hours while his foster mom is out--no accidents, no messes, no stolen food. He usually just hangs out by the front window, patiently waiting for her return. While he still has some anxiety, he does wonderfully as long as he's not crated.

When it comes to other dogs, he does best with slow introductions. He took a couple of days to warm up to his foster canine sister, but now they're best buddies! Even though he outweighs her by about 30 pounds, he's incredibly gentle and lets her take the lead during playtime.

Foster absolutely loves people. At the vet, he happily soaked up attention from everyone in the waiting room. He may bark at first, but it's just his way of saying he'd like some love too.

He's also improving on leash and in the car--though he still sometimes barks at big trucks or unfamiliar people, he's learning to stay calm.

Fritz is truly 80 lbs of love, loyalty, and laid-back charm. He's looking for a home that understands deaf dogs or is willing to learn about them. Someone with patience, love, and a soft spot for a soulful pittie with a wiggly butt and a huge heart.

Deaf doesn't mean difficult--it just means different. And with Fritz, it also means rewarding, joyful, and full of love.

Check him out having a jolly time with the garden blower:
https://youtube.com/shorts/bqhNPXydOq4?si=l3tXLwcVOcazXIlc

Name: Fritz
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier/Crossbreed
Sex: Male
Age:3 years old (estimated)
Weight: 80 lbs
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative
Microchipped: Yes
Special Needs: Fritz is deaf and blind in one eye.

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Yes, 12 years and older.
Good with Dogs: Yes, with slow intros
Good with Cats: No

Adoption Fee: $300.00

Location of dog currently: Rhode Island

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue.
