Meet Fries the Catahoula

Say hello to Fries! Fries is a stunning 1 year old, 44lb Catahoula Leopard Dog mix pup. Not only is Fries absolutely gorgeous, but this girl is also a fighter that survived Parvo after being dumped on the streets by her owners. Fries is now healthy and ready to find a home in the Pacific Northwest for a home to help celebrate her success and enjoy her sweet, loving puppy vibes, much like her siblings, Milkshake and Hamburger!

Fries is travelling from Texas to the Pacific Northwest and will arrive July 17th. We are currently accepting pre-adoption applicants for this gorgeous girl! To be considered, please fill out an application: www.doggedly.org/adoption-app

Fries story is a sad one. This girl was kept in the backyard as a young pup, with her sibling Hamburger. Sadly, her owners wanted to mate her to her brother to produce more gorgeous merle puppies that they could sell for profit. Poor Fries and her brother Hamburger were subjected to a life of neglect, although neighbors begged for the opportunity to help spay and vaccinate these owned pup. The owner's fence broke and her brother escaped first, ending up at the shelter and then adopted in Washington state.

Sadly, Fries remained alone for months and was now tied to a fence post without shelter, by a rope. During a thunderstorm, Fries was frightened and managed to escape her binds in search of shelter. She ended up roaming the streets for days with a giant, infected rope burn on her neck that was oozed with infection. During this time, Fries also contracted Parvo on the streets. She was picked up by a neighbor just as she was starting to break with the disease, which is fatal if left untreated. Doggedly immediately stepped up to help Fries, who was on death’s door with bloody diarrhea, vomiting and extremely lethargy upon arrival. She was immediately admitted to a vet clinic and treated for severe Parvo. This girl is such a fighter and beat the odds. We are so happy that she survived!

Fries went to a loving foster home after her treatment, where we have learned so much about her personality! First and foremost, Fries is an absolutely adorable little sweetheart! She is timid at first, due to her past, but warms up quickly. Once she learned that humans were a source of food and affection, this girl transformed into a super charged wiggle butt! In fact, Fries' wiggle butt is so intense when she's excited, that her entire body will sway, until she flops over on the ground for belly rubs and melts at your touch! This is what happens pretty much every time she meets new people! We admit that this cute girl might be a little spoiled with her new rescue life, but can you blame us?

Fries still has a lot of puppy tendencies, being only 1 year old, and will need some training to be the very best girl that she can be. Due to her past of being kept in the backyard, Fries will need continued socialization to build her confidence and positive reinforcement training to learn the basics of being a good girl. She is submissive to larger dogs, and especially loves big, derpy males. Fries would absolutely love to have a big goofy brother! She automatically submitted to the big male pups in her foster home and she wanted to play. Don't be deterred by her small size of only 40lbs! Fries loves to wrestle with the big boys and get her puppy energy out! She would do best in a home with one or more well socialized, confident dogs with medium energy, and a family with lots of structure and patience to train a puppy teenager. Fries would love an active family that can take her on many fun family outings, like hiking, camping or even the beach, to help her grow her confidence through positive experiences and exposure.

Fries is currently crate and leash trained. She is still working on her house training and sometimes marks on carpets. She will need someone with the time and patience to work on this habit, that should be easier to curb since she has been recently spayed. This smart, sweet girl loves to please her humans and is motivated by praise, which should make training a breeze! Fries loves to give and receive love, she is sweet, adorable and always willing to take a belly rub!

Fries is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and is now immune to Parvo for life! Now she just needs someone to be the ketchup to her Fries!
