Meet Fred and Kisses
We received this message from someone needing to rehome her 2 dogs...
I need help. Three children, two dogs, one cat, and myself became homeless in September of last year. We had been staying in a relative’s unfinished basement until two weeks ago. I searched for an adorable pet friendly place and also got put on the housing authority waitlist. I wasn’t able to find a home I could afford that allowed pets and I was offered a home through the housing authority. They will not allow me to keep my pets. I found a home for the cat, but have been unable to do so for my dogs. I contacted Burke Country Animal Services to surrender them, even though I definitely don’t want to do that, and they gave me a list of places to contact. I also have a date of May 12th to surrender them if I can’t find anyone before that. This is absolutely heartbreaking for my family and myself, but I’ve run out of options. ???
Enough of that and more about them:
Fred, a neutered and chipped male, 11 1/2 yo
Kisses, a spayed and chipped female, 9 yo
They do well with some other dogs, just depends on the dogs. They do well with cats. They are awesome with kids, even toddlers, especially Fred!! They both need some vet care. They have fleas currently; I was able to keep them at bay throughout the winter, but since it started getting warm I haven’t been able to. Kisses is also a stress biter/licker (of herself, not people) and idk what to do about that and her poor butt/back is looking terrible. I can’t afford to take them to the vet. I’m barely keeping my head above water since becoming homeless.
Please let me know if you can help!!
