Meet Fred

Fred is a 3-months old yellow Labrador Retriever, possibly Shar Pei or Husky mix. He currently weighs 17 lbs. Once fully grown is should be a nice medium size dog weighing around 55 to 60 lbs.

Fred is a parvo survivor. He and his brother Barney were tossed out at dumpsters near busy highways and railroads in Houston, TX. Both puppies were pretty much feral and fearful of humans.

A local trapper spotted them and was able to capture both little boys when they were only 7/8 weeks old. Both puppies were pretty thin and quickly it was discovered that they suffered from the parvovirus. Initially the vet sent them home with medicines and treatments for in-home care but Fred declined quickly and within 48 hours ended up at the ER Hospital.
Fred's prognosis was guarded. But with the 24/7 care by the vet staff he made it. He fought hard and it was touch and go for the first 48 hours but our little Fred is a fighter and beat the horrible fate of the virus for most puppies.
Fred also suffered from demodex mange but was treated successfully for that as well.

Fred is now healthy enough to start his life with his own new family.
Fred has been dewormed, has his first parvo/distemper vaccines, and is micro-chipped.

Fred is a total love bug and loves to cuddle with his humans once he trusts them.
He loves to play with his toys, chew on bully sticks, antler and hooves. He also likes to play with his brother Barney and the other dogs at his foster home.

Fred is pee pad trained but now since he is out of isolation will go potty outside. He is crate-trained and is able to hold it most of the night.

Fred is a quick learner. He got the come here and sit command quickly. Whenever he wants something he will sit patiently in front of you hoping you will notice what a good boy he is.

We are placing Fred in a home in the suburbs only. The commotion in the city would stress him out too much.
