Meet Fran, the charming and stylish pooch who's looking for her match! Fran is a 6 year old, spayed female, collie mix. While she is small, her personality is mighty - she likes to be in charge, and will make sure you know it!

As the 'Nanny' of the dog world, Fran runs the yard with flair and fineness - but beneath her fashionable exterior lies a complex pup who's been through a tough past. Having been seized from an abuse case, Fran needs a family who's patient, understanding, and willing to give her the time she needs to adjust. Fran is not completely housebroken, but she is quick to learn and will easily master the skill with some patience.

This fashionista loves to shine bright and her personality will really shine when you take her outside into our yard to play! Fran really is a goofy girl, and is the type of dog to keep a smile on your face all day. She does have a dog here she gets along great with, but she can be a bit of a diva with other canines, so we recommend a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home. We have not yet seen how Fran is around cats or kids, so we recommend meet and greets with them as well.

Once Fran has found her perfect match she would love to just be by your side all day! Fran is still young enough to have plenty of energy to chase you around, but she will be demanding snuggles at the end of the day. Fran is a very curious girl, and would love a family that will be open to helping her see the world!

When you first walk up to Frans kennel, you will notice shes developing some kennel stress. Fran has actually been sitting in the shelter for a couple of months before she was available to be put up for adoption. While we do our best, this environment is not ideal for long-term stays, and it can be hard on animals. We just ask that you keep an open mind, and ask to see Fran out in the yard, where you will see her true personality shine!

When Fran first came to us she was malnourished, and weve worked to get her back up to a healthy weight. It is common, though, for animals that have dealt with improper nutrition to become possessive over food. If other animals or children are present in the home, mealtimes should be supervised to make sure Fran isnt being pushed past her limits. With Fran being a herding breed, weve noticed shes also started to herd us here at the shelter! It has gotten more prevalent the more stressed shes become, but her future owner will need to work on her training to ensure shes not nipping at anyone while trying to boss them around.
