Meet Foster Me! Willis

**Fantastic foster or foster-to-adopt opportunity! **

This dog is in the shelter. Rescued Rascals has the opportunity to bring them to safety in Illinois but only if a foster home is committed to welcome them. If you decide the dog is the perfect fit, you have the first choice to adopt!

Willis
Two years old / 58lbs
Hound mix / heartworm positive

Willis is a beautiful hound! He loves attention from people and especially having those large ears scratched! Willis enjoys playing in the run yard sniffing everything. He gets along with dogs, but seems to do better with female dogs. Willis would do best in a home with a yard where he can explore and sniff until his hearts content!

Willis is a happy goofy boy who has been in the shelter for too long. He’s looking forward to finding a foster home and leaving the shelter behind!

Sadly, this dog is heartworm positive. Heartworm is a preventable disease that can become deadly if left untreated. Heartworm is not contagious to the dogs in your home. Thankfully there is treatment for heartworm disease! Rescued Rascals is prepared to provide the treatment to this dog, but they need to be in a foster home first. Fostering a heartworm positive dog is a 2–3-month commitment. The first month of treatment consists of daily antibiotic pills for the dog. The second part of treatment is two injections of medication followed by one month of limited activity. After that the dog can resume regular activity and is ready for adoption! While you foster, the rescue provides you with all the supplies you need for the dog, as well as support for any questions you have.

Fostering a heartworm positive dog is a rewarding experience – you don’t need any special qualifications – only the desire to help save a life.

We will provide all supplies and support while fostering. You provide a safe home and lots of love.
