Meet Foster Daisy Mae!
**URGENT Foster Needed!!**
This dog is in the shelter. Rescued Rascals has the opportunity to bring them to safety in Illinois but only if a foster home is committed to welcome them. If you decide the dog is the perfect fit, you have the first choice to adopt!
Daisy Mae
Three Years old / 47lbs
This affectionate girl is looking for a family to help her get out of the shelter. Daisy Mae is friendly with everyone including dogs. She loves crawling up into laps for pets and ear scatches.
Sadly, this dog is heartworm positive. Heartworm is a preventable disease that can become deadly if left untreated. Heartworm is not contagious to the dogs in your home. Thankfully there is treatment for heartworm disease! Rescued Rascals is prepared to provide the treatment to this dog, but they need to be in a foster home first. Fostering a heartworm positive dog is a 2–3-month commitment. The first month of treatment consists of daily antibiotic pills for the dog. The second part of treatment is two injections of medication followed by one month of limited activity. After that the dog can resume regular activity and is ready for adoption! While you foster, the rescue provides you with all the supplies you need for the dog, as well as support for any questions you have.
Fostering a heartworm positive dog is a rewarding experience – you don’t need any special qualifications – only the desire to help save a life.
We will provide all supplies and support while fostering. You provide a safe home and lots of love.
Please fill out an application on our website ASAP at http://rescuedrascalsil.org/foster-application/
*** This dog is also available for our foster to adopt program. ***
