Meet Forte

This litter of musical expressions was turned in to Animal Control as strays. Although they bark when excited to greet their foster mom, they're surprisingly quiet puppies.

With a guesstimated birthday in March 2022, we anticipate these pups will be medium size, possibly 40 - 50 lb.

All of these babies are snuggly and sweet. They're active and healthy with happy puppy noises, but not obnoxious barking - unless a strange dog comes around. They don't seem to mind the horse that lives next door.

Forte is the calmest pup in this litter. He loves to give kisses and will sit patiently for pets as well as smooches from his foster mom. He's working on his leash-walking and will pull, but wants to be with his people so doesn't pull hard.

Forte likes to play with the pup-tolerant adults. He is gentle with them, even when they're being rough, rolling him onto his back. He loves to snuggle and is relatively confident once he settles into the household routine.

Forte crates at night without a peep and waits to use the bathroom until his foster mom gets up in the morning. He plays with his foster dog pack in the kitchen and can wait to go out for about 3 hours. A potty break shortly after meals is recommended for young dogs.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies.

Not all foster dogs are available for viewing during public events at Tractor Supply (360 Blowing Rock Blvd) in Lenoir, NC.
