Meet Forrest ADOPTION PENDING

You know that we all have our favorites...maybe it's the pup that snuggles a bit closer once he's comfortable and wags his entire body when he sees you.. simply because he wants to share how much love he feels inside. His gratitude for being safe knows no bounds. These descriptions would fit Forrest to a tee once he's comfortable in his environment.

Forrest's Texas rescuers were set on saving this sweet boy's life. Their hearts went out to the adorable little guy who got caught in an extremely overcrowded shelter system. This was through no fault of his own but due to a broken system that doesn't have the time or personnel to deal with the little guy peering out from the back of a dark cage... wagging his tail so hopefully.

Forrest can be initially very frightened as a result of his very challenging early life. But this little guy who wants to love so badly will get over this fear with patient guardians who respect his process of learning to trust. It's clear that his abuse came from a male and therefore his trust comes slower with men. His response to women comes more quickly and he falls deeply in love.

Rehoming is difficult for these very sweet, yet initially frightened dogs. It is for this reason that we ask potential families not to apply if you're seeking immediate bonding or gratification. We're also seeking a family that is open to positive reinforcement training with one of our approved trainers. Through this training opportunity, these dogs bond with their families and new relationships are forged. In the end, these dogs that have been through so much respond great to training and develop strong and very loyal and loving ties with their cherished families. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area.

Forrest's Colorado foster family provided the following information on this stunning guy:

Forrest has a fun and silly personality once he feels comfortable and secure in his surroundings. He loves to chew on bones and play with his toys. He would do best in a home with older children (like many small dogs) as he can be uncomfortable with the fast movements and loud voices of young kids.
I believe he would be great with other dogs in the home if they're gentle and sweet. He'd absolutely love the fun and playtime outside in the yard or at the park.

I can see that Forrest may have been treated poorly by a male. With the training that we suggest, he can be taught that men can be kind and loving. This training tends to be very successful and will be such a valuable lesson for this little guy who wants to love and interact so badly but holds back due to old fears and unkind experiences. He already gravitates to females and will cuddle and love a female who is kind and loving with him.

I think that Forrest would be perfect for a female retiree who is searching for that very loving and loyal best friend. He would shine and be a perfect best friend..always appreciative of the time, love and respect that he would enjoy in a home of this kind.

Forrest is really good on leash and will walk politely beside his people. He also is very respectful of the home and possessions. He's housetrained (may need reminders initially in a new home) but definitely is very clean about himself and wants to please and learn.

Forrest loves to cuddle with females once they show that they're loving and kind. He'll ultimately cuddle with males as well once he understands that they won't be unkind or harm him in any way.

It's clear that Forrest's great temperament will ultimately shine for a family that doesn't require immediacy. He will become a friendly and engaging guy who is so cute that many find him irresistible. His dark eyes, that are pleading and so wise, were his ticket to a new life in Colorado.

We can't forget that Forrest, at 11 lbs and 9 months old is still learning...he's a blank slate just waiting to be patiently taught by his people. Being a young guy still, Forrest is open to new ideas with new ways of approaching challenges...and he shines with his successes. Forrest will benefit and understand clear guidelines of fun and socialization. It would also cement the relationship with his family so Forrest will understand that he is loved, accepted and a very important family member.

Forrest appears to be a a non-shedding guy. His compassionate Texas rescuer gave Forrest a sudsy bath and luxurious brushing knowing that in time a beautiful and cottony-soft coat will grow in. Forrest will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and hair care) to keep his coat very healthy, super-soft and matt-free.

Forrest is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted for this very loving lap dog and best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out our application completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Forrest please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
