Meet Foby

Foby / M / approx. 1 year / 44 lbs / Mix / Brampton

Meet Foby! At just 4 mos of age, Foby was intentionally abandoned in a remote area of Bahrain without food, water or shelter and left to die. Thankfully he was rescued and now has a chance at the life he deserves here in Canada.

Foby’s foster mum says he reminds her of a young, clumsy deer - so goofy, bouncy and curious! New to life in a home, he is shy at first and needs a bit of time to open up, but once he does he is the sweetest pup. Foby loves to play with his toys and is learning to fetch. He also enjoys going for long walks and playing with his canine foster siblings in the backyard.

Foby is an independent guy but does like to be near his people and can usually be found curled up in his bed beside you. Sometimes his inner, needy puppy will come out and he will stick his head in your armpit to cuddle or he will lay his head on your lap for scratches. He will even offer a sweet little kiss on your hand or cheek when he’s in the mood. Foby is food motivated and is very excited when you are preparing his dinner.

Foby’s ideal home will be in a quieter neighborhood and have a woman as the primary caregiver. He feels more confident when around his canine foster siblings and so he’d also like to have another well-adjusted dog sibling to show him the ropes. Although he is getting better, Foby is still initially weary of new men and may bark or let out a low growl to say “Hey! Please respect my space!” With proper intros and a bit of time and space though he will come around and does just fine with his foster dad. His new family should be prepared continue the wonderful work his foster has done by continuing with slow and gentle introductions to new men though.

Based on observations, he would likely be good with respectful bigger children that understand dog etiquette. His foster says he a sweet personality and he trusts little people. He can bit a bit nibbly in play but is very gentle. Foby is both dog social and would do well with a dog savvy cat.

Foby is medium energy and enjoys a 30 min walk before and after work plus backyard play time and potty breaks. He walks very well on leash, staying close, but tends to shy away from loud noises or strange men. When his people go out, he is trusted with free reign of a puppy proofed space. He generally settles quickly if his foster siblings are around to keep him company.

Provided he receives consistent opportunities to go outside, he is house trained and will wine to let you know he needs to go out. Foby is learning basic commands and already knows sit and give a paw. He’s a very curious boy tries to paws on the counter to see what you are doing!

To help ensure Foby’s new family is equipped with the tools he needs to help him learn to trust men, Fetch & Releash will donate his adoption fee to our Mississauga based partner Pam of Pam’s Paws Dog Training (Applicant’s should be based in the GTA).
