Meet Firecracker
My story started under an abandoned house, where I was born with my other 4 siblings. I seem to be the smallest of the bunch.
Two months later, Animal Control found us, and Hero rescued us from that noisy shelter. We never had to deal with humans before, so we are all super scared of them at first, but I’m learning to trust new people.
For some reason, when we got to the big bad shelter, my back legs stopped working, and I would drag them behind me. Hero, and my foster mom have taken me to the best specialists and worked with me to stretch and strengthen my back legs. After 2 months of swimming and doing physical therapy I’m running with the pack, going up and down stairs and playing with my foster brothers and sisters (even though they have 60lbs on me!). My foster mommy tells me my personality matches my name, I’m her little firecracker! Whoever adopts me, must love me unconditionally and be as committed as I am to helping me live a normal life!
I love to hang out in my crate when things overwhelm me (it’s my safe space), I’ve almost mastered potty training (as long as you bring me out every few hours I don’t have accidents) and I LOVE to play with dog toys! I would love to have a big brother or sister to play with and someone to keep teaching me new tricks. I’m very treat motivated and have mastered “sit” and “crate” but can’t wait to learn more!! If you think you are my family that will take care of me and love me unconditionally, please apply to meet me. I promise you won't regret it.
Love, Firecracker!
Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.
Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household.
Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.
Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
