Meet Finn

Finn has an estimated date of birth of mid-August 2014 and appears to be a mix of some kind of terrier and maybe Spaniel or perhaps Border Collie. He is a very active, energetic, and playful pup that likes to be in the middle of everything. As for his backstory, the woman who brought Finn to ACS said that her elderly neighbor had witnessed someone dumping the pup out of a car along with a bag that contained puppy food and a note saying the pup had had one shot. No other information was given and, since Finn, was not microchipped, we had no way of knowing by whom he was dumped but it only took a couple of days for us to suspect WHY he was dumped. When we came in one morning and Finn - who had been bouncy, active, and energetic the night before -was laying in his crate whimpering and unable to move, we immediately rushed him to a local vet. When Finn worsened later in the day, we took him to a local veterinary specialist who diagnosed the poor guy with Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) - a disease that affects typically large-breed male puppies around 3-4 months of age. There is no cure for this ailment but most puppies will recover on their own after one or two episodes. Finn's last episode was the end of November 2014 and, since then, he has been the picture of health. In fact, he has done so well that he was recently neutered and is now available for adoption. Finn had been in a playgroup with another similar-sized male dog prior to his neuter and they had a ball chasing each around the yard and wrestling with each other so we think he'd really enjoy a home with another canine-friendly dog. This happy fella is one of the most optimistic dogs we've ever met and he just loves everybody. To find out if Finn would be a good fit for you and your household, just stop by the shelter and asked to meet him. Approved applicants will be given a copy of Finn's medical history should they wish to confer with their vet before finalizing the adoption. /// FINN IS SPONSORED BY JANE MEULER THRU JULY 2015; BY SILVIA TULLOSS THRU JULY 2015; BY DENNIS AND SANDY DOLAN THRU JULY 2015; BY OLDFATHER LAW FIRM THRU OCTOBER 2015; BY JUDITH REED THRU JANUARY 2016; BY MELANIE PIERSON THRU JANUARY 2016; BY BILL REED THRU JANUARY 2016; BY THE GREAT FOLKS AT CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS THRU FEBRUARY 2016; AND BY AMEY CONWAY THRU FEBRUARY 2016.
