Meet Finley

Finley was found as a stray and loved for several years. His mom has started working long hours and recognized it isn't fair for him to stay home alone so much.

With a guesstimated birthday in March 2018, Finley is overweight at 30 lb. He is starting a diet at his foster family's. Our vet recommends he lose 5 - 7 lb to be at a better weight.

Finley has lived in a home with a small dog and cats. He would like to play chase-the-cat, but will leave cats alone if they insist or ignore him. He will bark at new dogs, but warms up quickly. He will be working on dog social skills as he doesn't recognize some cues from others - ears back, lip curled, etc. He thinks everyone should be pleased to welcome him into their personal space.

Finley loves to go places and will ride happily in a car. He pulls on his leash due to excitement. This is something his foster will be working on and his qualified family will need to continue reinforcing. He loves to run and play. He'll bolt out of doors if given the opportunity. This may reduce as he receives more exercise at his foster's.

Finley is an affectionate young man. His qualified family will be asked for grooming references to keep his coat in good shape and minimize matting.
**********

April 2020: We are not holding public adoption events until further notice. Qualified families are being invited to appointments to meet specific dogs. There are currently no opportunities to view multiple dogs and adoption events aren't being held at Tractor Supply in Lenoir.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee equal to refundable spay/neuter deposit may be required if, using our veterinarian or same-day surgery, service is scheduled through our organization. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
