Meet Fernando D5429
My name is Fernando. I'm a 7 month old hound/lab mix. I came to my foster home two weeks ago with my housemate. My foster mom said, if she had to describe me 7 days ago, it would not have been my most glowing review. However, in two weeks, I've come out of my shell and now my foster mom says I'm a smart, sweet boy who loves to be loved. She also said I'm special, so my bio needs to be special.
I'm a 50 pound lap dog who is just now learning manners and social cues from people and dogs. I love to play and approach all play with extreme exuberance and a boop to the nose. I've learned that not all dogs like my style. My mom says I can be in a home with another dog (or two) as long as the dog is young and matches my play style. I like to boop, run and wrestling, so a younger dog (1-4) might be best. I don't always understand when I upset a dog but I will match the behavior I am receiving. Slow intros and supervised play would be best until we are all comfortable.
I lived outside for a while so food and certain toys are precious too me (i.e Nyla bones). I didn't like to share when I first came to my foster home but I'm now realizing that it is ok to share with my friends.
Walks are a new concept for me. Since I'm so strong and a little nervous, my foster mom uses a gentle leader and a harness. I walk really well but do love to smell everything so I can walk in a june bug pattern if you let me. Otherwise, I'm happy to heal to my person. The left side of my person is my favorite view.
I'm potty trained and know that I should do all my business outside. I had a few accidents when I first came but I was just learning the ropes. I also didn't love my kennel but now I go in my kennel with very little protest and keep my kennel dry all night.
I am a hound dog and have some good pipes. It might be best if I live in a home without shared walls. However, I complain less and less with each visit to my kennel and my barking is short lived.
I need a home that will continue to positively reinforce all the good work I've done becoming the best me. A home with someone who can be a strong leader and also enjoys a full contact snuggle and lots of love.
