Meet Farmer aka Fred

Farmer (his foster mom calls his Fred) is 53 pond Rottweiler mix who was found as a stray in Alabama. The Vet estimates his age at 6-8 years.

He is a very friendly guy and he absolutely loves to play with other dogs. Within the first 30 minutes of being in his foster home he convinced the 12 year old resident grumpy dog to play chase!

His foster mom says he is full of joy and is great with people of all sizes. He passed his behavioral assessment with flying colors and he really seems to be grateful that he was rescued from the streets. We don't know how long he was living on his own but he seems to have lived in a house at some point because he is completely house trained. He knows not to chew things that aren't given to him and he loves to curl up on the couch or dog bed.

He gets very excited to go on a walk and will pull for the first few minutes or so until he calms down. He also tries to take off to chase squirrels. His foster mom is working on his leash manners, and slowly but surely he's learning to not pull as much. He loves to run and explore the fenced yard but he's also content to lay in the sun and relax. Overall he is medium energy. He isn't a couch potato but he's no hyper youngster either. He would do well in most any environment but would be happiest where he can spend some time playing with another dog as he truly loves his two canine foster brothers. He also loves the neighbor kids and would be a great companion for a young family. He sings to the sirens with his foster brother, see the attached video for them singing their duet.

We were told he tried to chase a cat who was hanging out at the vet's office, so he'd probably do best in a household without cats.
His canines are worn down as though he spent a lot of time cooped up in a cage chewing on the bars. We want his new family to have time to exercise him properly so that he no longer languishes in a crate.
