Meet Faith (Senior)

This is Faith. She is on "older" girl who has been through so much! When she first arrived at a high kill, southern shelter back in January of 2022, things were not looking too bright for this lovely lady. She quickly became a shelter favorite. It was obvious that she had not had much joy in her life. They guessed her age at about 8. She had no hair where her collar once was, It was assumed that the hair loss was from her collar being left on for many years. A woman walking her dog found her huddled in the bushes and took her home for the night. The next day, when animal control picked her up....they said that the woman cried because she never saw a real dog in such shape, only on the TV. Faith only weighed 27 lbs. at that time and tested positive for heart-worm disease. Her future was uncertain.
It has been proven to us in rescue that there are angels in this world who are miracle workers for dogs like Faith. She was taken in by a foster mom who slowly and patiently nursed her back to health. Faith has put on some much needed weight and currently weighs 45 lbs. Despite our doubts in her ever being ready to be spayed and receiving the very harsh treatment for HW disease... this brave dog survived it all. Faith does have an occasional slight limp which was looked at by a vet very recently. He attributed it to just "getting old" and recommended a good joint supplement and an anti-inflammatory as needed. Foster mom added that she has been known to catch a squirrel or two so she's not an invalid just yet. She just gets sore when she has too much activity going on and plays too hard.
Faith is now doing well and given the okay to travel to our rescue very soon. She will need a confirmed adopter, or foster home, to go to when she arrives. We are sincerely hoping that we can get her started on her "happily-ever-after" part of her life when she gets here. Foster mom says that: "Faith is super sweet and loving.
She is wonderful with and loves everyone she meets. She is very passive and will roll over for all dogs and people I have a dog door so she is house trained to the door. I'm sure she would catch on to asking to go out.
She is good with all dogs, it took her a while not to bother my cats but I think that was just a little bit of jealousy. Faith is not aggressive at all with my kitties and my one cat, Vanessa, often sneaks bites of food from her bowl. Caution should, of course, be taken with any new kitty friends.
Faith will go into her crate without a fuss, but she does not love it. He goal is to be with her person at all times. We are currently putting in new floors and she would rather be in the crate in the same room with us than without us in another room. She is very sweet and will make a wonderful companion dog. Faith walks very well on a leash and has excellent food manners."
So, if you are interested in giving a senior dog a great life for her remaining years, please let us know right away.
Faith is scheduled to arrive on transport on Sunday, Aug. 14th. She is already spayed, micro-chipped and current with vaccines. She was treated for heartworm disease and is past her "restricted activity" period. Faith's suggested adoption donation is $250 in order to help the rescue recover some of the cost of vet bills. If you would like to foster or adopt this beautiful girl when she arrives, please submit the adoption application through our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. After your application is reviewed and approved, a volunteer will contact you to answer any questions that you might have and to discuss our very popular Foster-to-Adopt option with you. Thank you for considering a beautiful Mixed-Breed, senior dog!!
Faith was adopted today right off of transport. She will now begin her "happily-ever-after" part of her life in Endicott, NY.
