Meet FAITH - MUST BE ADOPTED W/ CAESAR

PLEASE READ THIS POST FULLY BEFORE APPLYING:
FAITH IS PART OF A BONDED PAIR WITH CAESAR. THEY MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER! ALL INFO IS HERE ABOUT THEM. WILL NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT ARE ANSWERED HERE. DON'T ASK IF THEY'RE AVAILABLE. THEY ARE, IF THEY'RE ON HERE OR WE REMOVE THEM.

AMAR has a bonded pair of adorable Maltese up for adoption in the Rhode Island, MA, CT area. Faith and Caesar are litter-mates and they can’t be separated. They’re nine-year-olds, 10.5 and 12 lbs, who were severely neglected by their family all their lives, medically and socially. They were left in crates for many hours, most days and we found they suffered broken and ground down teeth chewing on the bars to get out. AMAR took care of all their medical needs including dentals and a removal of a tumor Faith had and they’re spayed, neutered and chipped. Our foster family has done wonders with them and they are adored by them. Anyone who adopts them should have NO SMALL CHILDREN at home or visiting.

Both of them are really very sweet and loving lap dogs. It took awhile for them to trust their foster, but they have made great strides. They love snuggling on your lap and taking naps. They sleep in the bed with their humans. Will nudge you if they have to get down to go potty at night. They do play with each other and it can get loud, but they’re just playing. They love their squeaky toys.
They need someone who will be home with them most of the time. A retiree or retired couple would be perfect! They suffer from extreme separation anxiety. They will bark non-stop if you leave them, so we suggest NO APARTMENT LIVING. They are very reactive to outside noises and will bark at them. They are on several medications and Caesar has dry eye that he gets ointment in once a day. He’s lost some of his vision but that doesn’t stop him. Faith is on Rx food.

Until they came into rescue, they were never leash walked or went outside. They both adjusted to leash walking quickly, but Caesar is very reactive on leash with cars, other dogs and people. Faith is not. After several months, Caesar will now potty on his walk and enjoys smelling everything he passes. Faith has not figured this out yet. She'll hold it until she gets home. Caesar is very smart and will try to outwit you at every turn. Faith is a follower. Caesar will also try to eat anything, so an adopter will need to be diligent.

We’re hoping for an experienced adopter who has a lot of love and patience to give Caesar and Faith. If you’re interested and live in the RI, MA or CT area, please fill out an application with us and specify their names in the particular dog question. https://www.americanmalteserescue.org/adoption_process.html They will make someone so happy watching their antics and feeling their love.
