Meet: Fae! This 40lb, 1-year-old old cutie is ALL herding breed and she's seeking an experienced owner!
Ok, well technically her DNA is not 100% herding breeds... her previous family DNA tested her and she's mostly Australian Cattle Dog, with some Australian Shepherd, Malamute, and American Pit Bull Terrier mixed in. But she possesses many of the qualities of a stereotypical working/herding breed pup!
Like what, you ask?
She's one of the smartest dogs you'll ever meet. She loves to run and is very agile for her age. She thrives when she has a job to do. Fae bonds very quickly and completely with "her people". She's high energy.
She also, though, possesses the quirks that come with these breeds - she is so alert that she is anxious, especially when she isn't mentally and physically drained. Due to this anxiety, she has some stranger danger and needs slow introductions to new people.
Fae thrives within a household where there is structure and order. She previously lived in a household with 3 school aged children and it was just too much chaos for her, so she is seeking a home where there is no regular access to children. Due to her anxious/fearful tendencies, she is seeking an experienced adopter; she would not be a good fit for someone who's ready to adopt their first-ever pup. Fae does have very mild separation anxiety, as expressed by whining/barking for about 5-10 minutes after you leave, so a home dwelling with shared walls wouldn't be a good fit for her.
Fae will be headed to her furever home with a lot of smarty-pants tricks under her belt. She's potty trained, crate trained, leash trained and placework trained. She knows "Sit", "Lay Down", "Come" and she is working on "Stay". She is also working on muzzle training and doing great.
Fae has lived with dogs and cats and does well with both. She did like to chase the cats (she's a herding breed dog, what do you expect?!) so if her new home had a cat it would have to be a dog-savvy cat that's able to stand it's ground. She has done great with every dog she's met, but she does resource guard food and high value toys from other dogs in the home so she's seeking an adopter who is comfortable keeping those up/away when multiple dogs are present.
Fae is such a happy-go-lucky puppy who brings a smile to everyone's face. She may not give her love away for free to just anyone... but once you're in the Fae's Fan Club, you're in for life.,, and trust me, you want to be in! When she sees someone she knows/loves, her floofy tail wags so hard it moves her ENTIRE body! If you want to join the Fae Fan Club and you're an active household who's ready for a high-octane, crazy-smart pup, apply to meet Fae!
Please note: due to Fae's stranger danger, we will be requiring multiple in-person meetings with her prior to adoption. All meetings will follow Covid-safe protocol.
Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration. Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.
Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 90-mile radius of Minneapolis; however, we will consider up to 250 miles if the adopter is willing to drive to cities as needed.
