Meet E.Z.

Meet E.Z.!

E.Z. was surrendered to the San Diego Humane Society by his owners, who said they didn't have time for him. We scooped E.Z. up on April 12th to become a Frosted Face. He is 9 years old and weighs 13 lbs.

E.Z left on a two-week Frosted Fling that has turned into a Foster home, because he is such a good boy! His Foster Mom provided an update on what E.Z. is like in a home:

"I've had EZ for almost a month, and here is what I have learned about him so far:

Personality: I consistently have the song Easy by Lionel Richie stuck in my head around EZ. He is quite easy and so so sweet. He will bring mellow and quirky energy into any home lucky enough to have him. He *loves* giving kisses, getting belly scratches, being brushed, and being carried. He also does cute little howls and spins when he knows potty time is coming. He is not a lap dog, but he likes being nearby you. He usually lays by me on the couch for a bit before going to his little corner of the sofa. He will gladly sleep in bed with you (likes to burrow under the covers) or sleep in his own bed on the floor.

Energy: EZ acts much younger than his years! Yes, he is very mellow, but he also gets random spurts of energy that will have you laughing. He sleeps throughout most of the day. I notice he likes to follow me from room to room. He gets routinely excited when waking up and seeing people for the first time. He adores being outside and going on walks. I have yet to see him tire; he usually pulls me a bit to nudge me to keep going. Last week, he went on a 3.5-mile walk through a hilly neighborhood and did just fine. Sometimes on walks, he gets little spurts of energy and likes to run too.

Potty Training: EZ's owner surrender paperwork says he is trained to use pee pads, and he started using them in my house during the day while I'm at work. He sleeps through the night for 8-9 hours and has not had one accident overnight, but he does need to go out as soon as he wakes up. He is responsive to the word "potty" and usually gives a little howl when it is said and starts excitedly spinning around.

Other Animals: EZ is a breeze with other animals. I have a 13 lb. dog, and they have become pals and love to snuggle together. He has been around dogs of all sizes comfortably. I've never heard EZ growl or show signs of aggression. He is a lover and likes to lick my dog's ears. My dog is blind and, most of the time likes the affection. However, he was surprised a few times and did not like the licking and growled at EZ. I noticed EZ responded well to the warning and gently backed off. Based on what I have seen, I assume he would do really well around any animal.

People: EZ is very social and friendly. He greets every person with tail wags and kisses. He has not been around infants or babies since being in my home. However, his owner's surrender paperwork says he has been around children his whole life and does well.

Barking: He is really quiet and mellow 99% of the time. However, he does engage in some protective barking in the home and outdoors. He responds well to me in either situation, saying, "Thank you, and be quiet."

Stairs: I'd also recommend that EZ be in a home where people are mindful of stairs. I have about 30 stairs leading up to my home, and he has lost his footing on them a few times. He has always been harnessed, so it's been okay. However, I think it would be safest for anyone with stairs in their home to have them gated and only have him go down supervised.

EZ is such a gentle and sweet little guy!"
