- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Ethel is diabetic and receives 2 units of insulin twice a day (with breakfast and dinner). She's a good girl who has no issues receiving her injections. While her diabetic needs have not changed during her time with City of Elderly Love, it's not uncommon for diabetic pets to need their insulin amounts tweaked over time. It's important that she receives her regular veterinary checkups.

MEET ETHEL!
This super special, super cute little lady is named Ethel! Ethel is an ~11 year old Poodle/Yorkie mix (our best guess) was rescued by Pennsylvania's Humane Law Enforcement during a neglect case. She spent a whole year in the shelter until her court case was resolved in Spring, 2020!
Needless to say, Ethel had a lot of making up to do and she has! When she entered the shelter it was discovered that she was diabetic and started insulin. Ethel formed cataracts due to the diabetes which resulted in blindness. Once we knew that her diabetes was regulated, we discovered that she was a candidate for cataract-removal surgery! She had surgery with an opthamologist this winter and while was already a happy, sweet girl, getting her sight back has transformed her back into a puppy!Â
Ethel is happily living in foster care with other dogs and has met both large and small dogs while with the rescue. The kitties she lives with take the opportunity to snuggle with her whenever possible and Ethel doesn't mind one bit! One silly thing about Ethel is that she LOVES to hop into planters, baskets, anywhere she can curl up into a ball! Her favorite thing to do though, is snuggle up with her human friends! She'll happily hop into your lap or cuddle up next to you on the couch. Now that she has her sight back, Ethel really enjoys bouncing around and playing with the other pups and toys. She's an easy-going girl with mild manners and the sweetest disposition.
